Pledge Update for the Bathroom Project

Hi Shady Beacher's!

We have a Pledge update for the Bathroom Project I'd like to share with you.

In just our first week we have Pledges totaling almost $3,945!  Thank you to those who have made a donation or Pledge and we hope to see a lot more.  As mentioned, the more donations via Pledges we receive the lower the amount that each SBIA member would be required to pay if the project is approved via member vote.  Below is an EXAMPLE:

Example w/o Pledges Example w/ Pledge
Project Budget
$60,000 $60,000
Donations via Pledges (projected)
  -$20,000
Remaining funds needed from Members $60,000 $40,000
135 Members/One-time Assessment per Member $445
$297
($148 less per member)

Why should you consider donating?
  1. People often feel connected to their community and want to see it thrive.  Donating gives them a sense of ownership and pride in their neighborhood.
  2. Donors can clearly see the results of their contributions and the tangible impact it makes their donation feel more meaningful.
  3. If you have/had a family member or guest at the beach with a disability and couldn't use the porta potty, and would like to have a direct impact for those with disabilities.
  4. To give back to the community as their experience of living here has been meaningful to their lives and they wish to make it a better place.
  5. This project will improve property values and make our community/neighborhood more attractive.
  6. To leave a legacy by helping to build our community for future generations who will benefit.
I will share my personal story why Kathleen and i have made a Pledge of $445.  Recently another long standing member shared a story about how they helped pay and cover the cost for their neighbor, who either couldn't or wouldn't pay their share to have their road paved.  So they ponies up the funds needed.  That inspired us to Pledge the current project cost per member to cover for another member who either can't or won't pay.

So...please Make a Pledge today if you feel so moved and are able.

PS:  We certainly have heard from a few members who are throwing out the What If's? What if someone vandalizes the bathroom, or shoves something down a toilet, etc.  Could this happen, certainly.  Is it likely to happen, no.  One local data point if Bayside Beach which has had zero incidents of vandalism inside their bathrooms over all these years.  Our beach is fenced in, gated and have cameras which should deter this.
